Academics
An "arts as core" program at the Fort Hayes Arts & Academic High School requires that the arts not only be included as core subjects within the total school curriculum, but also serves as the adhesive that unites and interrelates all other subject areas.
Semester Grades
Year long academics are split into first and second semesters; first semester covers quarters 1 and 2 with second semester covering quarters 3 and 4. Each semester course is worth 0.5 credits of the credit type of that particular credit type. Grades will be given for each quarter and semester grades will be the result of the average of the two quarters. This final semester grade will determine credit earned.
Grade Promotion
Each year, students must earn at least five (5) credits, four (4) of which must be in the required curriculum*, to be promoted to the next grade level. Of the four (4) required, one must be in Mathematics and one must be in English at each grade level.

COURSES
*Required Curriculum: In grades 9-12, required curriculum means the core courses that include English Language Arts (reading and writing), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health and Physical Education. One Technology and one Academic Elective will be considered to be part of the core required curriculum (Columbus Board of Education Policy 5172). All CCS students must successfully earn the following credits (at a minimum):
| 4 Credits English | 0.5 Credits Health |

| 3 Credits Social Studies | 1 Credit Fine Arts |
| 3 Credits Science | 1 Credit Technology |

- Grade 11 - at least ten (10) credits with eight (8) being from required curriculum.
- Grade 12 - at least fifteen (15) credits with twelve (12) being from required curriculum.
